MEDICAL ASSISTANT/ PREVENTION SERVICES

Medical Assistant:  The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients and physicians during physical examinations; performing EKG’s, phlebotomy, vital signs and other procedures needed.  Must maintain confidentiality of medical information concerning patients and proper documentation in medical charts.  Assist with the handling of supplies, caring for equipment; and cleaning designated areas.  Work is performed at the direction of or under the professional supervision of the physician, and the administrative supervision of the Nurse Manager, and is reviewed in terms of ability to carry out instructions, quality of work and attitude to patient, family and toward other members of the team.

NUTRITIONIST
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
 
Nutritionist:  The Nutritionist will be responsible for conducting nutritional assessments, nutritional interventions and education to Settlement Health patients including: Prenatal, Pediatrics and HIV population. Facilitate support groups to provide education, socializing and support opportunities for clients focused around nutritional care; Establish and maintains linkages with social service agencies and other organizations both in and outside of East Harlem which have the capability of meeting Settlement Health patients nutritional needs.

LPN
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
 
LPN:The LPN is responsible for assessing and triaging patients and providing support to physicians when taking patients’ history.  He/she will perform certain lab tests, i.e., peak flow measurements, dipstick urinalysis, finger stick blood tests, PPDs, pregnancy and strep screens as well as phlebotomy.  The LPN will also assist in emergency care and first aid procedures, and administer immunizations and medications.
